I'm new to linux (never used it before) but would like to get started.
I bought the Red Hat linux 9.0 bible and started to read it. I
figured it would be a good idea to learn a bit before i started. It
gave me a link to check hardware compatibility
(www.redhat.com/hardware). From there, it has a seperate link for red
hat linux 9 hardware compatibility information. The list there seems
somewhat small. I was wondering if those are the only peices of
hardware that will work with my install or if it is just the new items
included in version 9. I was looking to build my own box and just
wanted to buy peices off the list till i had the whole thing built. I
figured that by the time i actually got all the stuff to make the
computer id be done with that book. In particular i was looking into
a gigabit nic but from the listed cards, the only ones that look like
they are gigabit are the Intel e1000 and IntelÑEtherExpress Pro
100/1000. I tried to search for both of those and just can't seem to
find it on the intel site or just searching google. If i'm stuck with
just those cards listed there, are those two cards listed under some
other name or could someone just let me know of a link where i can
purchase one. Thank you for all your help.
