Dear Bogdan:
Well, in looking at your log, it shows that on the fourth line (where it
says connect), that you connected to the modem at the other end. The ^M is a
carriage return (ascii value 13), so your system sent a carriage return,
which generally indicates the the other end that you are beginning your
communication. At that point, you are connected between the two modems (the
screeching was successful). Also at this point, the other end is generally
waiting for a username and password for you to log in. It looks like you
never sent your username, just a carriage return at this point.
Then, it appears your end tried to dial the connection again
(ATDT9190165^M). This means your system sent "ATention, DialTouchtone and
the number is 9190165 ending in a carriage return). But at this same point,
I suspect the other end was waiting for a valid username/password
combination so it could complete the setting up of the connection, but
ATDT9190165 probably isnt your username.
At that point, the far end system, dropped the carrier as it was
probably thinking something like:
"Well, ATDT9190165^M isnt a valid username, so this is a misdial,
therefore, I am going to reset and wait for a valid username to dial into
me"
End of Story
