globus 2.4 installtion in mandrake 9.2

In following all the steps
the locations are set
but when i try to ./build_gpt (Grid packaging toolkit (3.0.1)following
error occurs) the perl is version 5.8.1.

build_gpt ====> installing GPT into /home/palingary/soft/tars/GPT/
build_gpt ====> building support/Compress-Zlib-1.16
