madplay - no sound - other players for digitaldj?

Hey all,

   Installed madplay for digitaldj but I don't hear any sound.... I
ran it in verbose mode on the command line and the clock starts
ticking but no sounds. Xmms and other sound apps work fine.

Any suggestions? Any other players that integrate well with
digitaldj?
