Are you routinely running as root? The fs "reserves" ~5% on each
partition for root just for the case of a filled up fs. I regularly
fill my 8GB partition to within ~1MB and get funky shutdowns, but the
journal recovers without a hitch. (I really _must_ clean some of this
stuff out of the fs when I get time.)

What error! We need some _specific_ info to offer specific help.

Just as well! This is not the first line of attack with this sort of
problem.

Can you get any error output on the screen? Any offers to try using
an alternate superblock? Can you put off boot-time mounting the
partition with problems?

Always wise to Google _before_ you fix it. Anyway, without more
specific clues the best I can do is suggest you try this Google web
search:
superblock recover linux redhat

where I found this (dated) example:
http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue32/tag_superblock.html

and where I found this detail which you may need:
https://listman.redhat.com/archives/ext3-users/2003-November/msg00020.html

There were a number of others that may be useful to you.
