Need application suggestions...

I'm looking for a linux replacement for Irfanview from windows.

The primary functionality I want is when I drag/drop a bunch of files into
the the app, it should start a slideshow. I'm using kuickshow for this
now, but I don't like having to navigate to where the files are...

The only other thing I used from Irfanview is the batch resizing. That's
not critical though.

If it matters, I'm using KDE now, but I'm thinking about experimenting with
some window managers so if the new app works well in a basic WM, that'd be
a plus.

I'm under the impression that the "null" symbol you're talking about means that that app isn't supported on the current machine, but you shouldn't be able to run it at all in that case, rather than the misbehavior you're describing. ...
