I have here a P4 running suse 9.0 which is confusing the hell out of
me. If I set it to do dhcp (by adding its MAC to the /etc/dhcpd.conf file
in the unix box doing the job of dhcp server), it will retrieve its IP,
nameservers, and gateway info and have no problems going online (ex: names
are resolved appropriately). Now, if I tell yast I want to use static IP,
I can provide the IP, netmask (255.255.255.0), nameservers, and gateway (in
the same subnet as the IP given to the machine itself) but the poor machine
cannot even ping another box in its own network. Well, it can ping itself
if I give its assigned IP, but it will complain the network is undreachable
if I try any other IP. What should I check for next?
