Hi,
(Sys-details: Intel PII 400 mhz / SuSE 9.1 (fresh install) / Linux 2.6.4 /
128 ram)
I installed a Sweex 56KpciHardware modem with an Intel Ambient 536ep
chipset. I thought when I bought the modem that it was a hardware modem,
but now it seems to be a win-modem.
I succeed to install the modem with Yast, but now wvdial receives as root a
segmentation fault. As the user it says that /dev/modem is busy. I checked
the permisions of the /dev-files and suid pppd and smpppd with chmod u+s.
I reinstalled wvdial, but without any succes.
Is this related to the modem driver? Is this related to ppp? To Wvdial? I am
really lost here, please help?
Cheers,
Jeroen
P.S. Sorry for crossposting/doubleposting, but I really need an answer,
because the PC of this friend of mine really needs to be fixed.
