I've just installed Debian in order to develop Lisp with X windows, as
doing GUIs in Lisp in Mac OS X involves serious outlay for development
packages. So I wasn't that interested in all the extra stuff that
comes with the Debian distribution. However, after being assaulted on
the box by the hysterical screams of "Over 8000 packages" and a big
exciting list of different types of software, I started getting
interested. After a painfree installation (excepting X windows which
still doesn't work) I decided to check out some of this software.
Problem is, I don't know what's on there, and I don't know how to find
out. Is there some master list of packages with descriptions
somewhere? Or do you just have to guess (-:
 Cheers
