Total Virgin what should I do

Hi guys
I have a machine just waiting for a distro but I HAVE NO IDEA which
one to choose. At the moment I just want to see what Linux can do and
I really want to move to a linux distro from Windows.
I am just a middle of the road user, I want to browse, I want to send
emails, I want to write documents and send them to people and I have a
digital camera and want to send snaps to friends. I have a web page I
want to update occasionally. I realise that this question may have
been asked over and over again but .....

All suggestions gratefully received.
