Four Different Systems:
one had dual rtl-8139/D Network Cards
One had an intel etherexpress pro Network card
one has on-board networking, Broadcom 440x
the fourth has on-board networking, nForce2 MCP
these four systems were tested with mandrake linux (except the third,
which was tested with Mandrake Move, same thing, though, i guess) I
have found that networking did NOT work with these chipsets in
mandrake. However, another system, which has a linksys network card
(dont know model number) using the tulip driver, gets networking just
fine with Mandrake Move... strange...
My system (testing system for the first two configurations) ran Fedora
and now Runs SuSE perfectly with either of the above configurations.
Knoppix was shown to work on the system with the broadcom adapter.
I only had time to test Mandrake 9.2 on the fourth comp., I
unfortunately did not have Knoppix with me that day.
I suppose my biggest question is a general, and almost cliche, "WTF?"
Has anyone else had these problems and managed to resolve them without
switching distros, cuz this is really pissing me off. Any information
regarding this issue would be good.
