Keep the partition scheme simple until you understand things
better. Also if you make any changes to the system make a note of
it, you'll probably reinstall a couple of times and knowing what
you did before will help.

You only need 2 partitions. A "/" root partition and as swap
partition. Those are pretty much required. I would also make a
/home partition so you can, if needed, do a reinstall without
losing your personal data.
