Gentlemen:
I have a fresh install on a new Supermicro P4SCI motherboard. I am
installing the same RedHat9 CD's used in several other computers just fine.
With this new motherboard, an lspci shows all devices with vendorID's
(Intel, and ATI show up), but the devices all show as "unknown device"
although the deviceID's are displayed.
On all other systems, with the same CD's, I can see the deviceID's
decode into such useful terms as System Controller, AGP Bridge and the like.
The reason this is an issue is that the ethernet devices on the
motherboard are not configured and I am starting at the PCI and noting any
idiosyncracies. This one with what appears to be a missing deviceID database
is a little puzzling.
Would anyone care to comment on why such a thing might be happening.
Charles
