Hi,
Recently I've upgraded my system from SuSE 9.0 to 9.2, moving from
2.4.21 to 2.6.8. The system is a dual AMD using AACRAID hardware
RAID-5. After the upgrade the disc performance is just very bad.
It wasn't terrible good in the first place, but now starting simple
applications can take a minute. The system has 2 GB main memory.
A bit of googling makes me nervous. I'm not very fancy going back
to 9.0. Some options are going to software RAID, but I've seen
reports that that makes the system not bootable. I don't mind
dumping the adaptor if there is one around that will work properly
with my SATA drives.
Cheers --- Jan
