I usually have dozens of applications running. I'm not about to stop
them all then restart them again five minutes later. Some of them
contain work in progress, as I like to move from one thing to another.

I want an operating system that does everything I require, not a
computer that runs multiple operating systems simultaneously. I've used
the latter before, and it's a tremendous pain, too.

The software-development system is very friendly, although virtually no
one today develops software. Its security is much worse than that of
Windows from an OS design standpoint, but since it has fewer
applications, less exposure, etc., it is less likely to be the target of
hacking attempts.
