Everytime i log onto my gnome desktop, 11 instances of firefox, 3
instances of the GIMP and 15 instances of xterm starts. That's very
annoying and i want it to stop. I've tried removing them from the
    session manager: no effect.

I really like gnome, i'ts a nice desktop, but unless i can get this to
stop i will have no option but to swap to some other WM :-(

    Running Gentoo (amd64), Gnome 2.8.1-r1.

    Thanks in advance.
