    good day sirs

i have recently changed the motherboard and Processor on my secondary
PC, and have noticed a problem wherein the Hard Drive will not boot
(although it did on the previous motherboard and no changes were made to
the boot sector or anything else on the drive)

i normally use a copy of GRUB that i have burned to a CD in such cases,
but that is giving me a "Disk Read Error" whenever i tell it to do
ANYTHING with (hd0,0). i have a feeling this is NOT a BIOS problem,
because i CAN access the drive and Read from/Write to the drive using
Knoppix, but i may be wrong.

worst case scenario, as far as i can tell, i'll just end up buying a new
Motherboard. but I'd like some input on the issue, first

    System Specs
    Motherboard: AOpen AK77-600N
    CPU: AMD Sempron 2300+
    RAM: 1152 MB DDR266
    Northbridge: VIA Apollo KT600
    Southbridge: VIA VT8235
Hard Drive: Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8 6E040L0

...i believe thats all the information that would be relevant, reply if
you need more info, or if you think you know what's wrong

    Thanks in Advance
