It also depends on what physical terminal or terminal emulator you are using.
Your terminal emulator may provide key translation.
(If you are running a terminal emulator under Microshaft Windows for example,
putty, terraterm, vterm, or hyper-terminal, there are configuration settings
relating to transmitted key sequences in the event of the delete key being pressed.
