There are some that for some reason feel the need to lie and say it failed.
My guess it it makes them feel better about themselves to put people like
you down. They claim that they are using "humor" as if humor can not be
meant to hurt or promote lies. The lie that posting a test message to
non-test groups is a failure of the test is a lie that has been repeated so
many times most people in the group believe it, but this does not make it
anything other than a lie.

There are test groups on usenet, if your server caries them, it is
considered polite to use them. It is only an issue of netiquette, there is
NO requirement to do so. It is also not a failure in the test if you chose
not to use test groups, but it would be appreciated by all if you do use
the test groups in the future.
