Let us leave SUSE aside as you dislike it because it is German, you tell
us Slackware is "is very command line intensive", so you prefer Debian.
Slackware can be entirely administered from a GUI. If you need your root
partition to be useable via a GUI, I have to tell you that the last
time I tried Debian it had a command line only root, Others here may be
able to confirm this for you.
