Check again;

$ rpm -qa |grep glib
glib-1.2.10-10
glib2-2.2.1-1 <--This is the default glib2 RPM package for RH9

Wrong from; ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/rawhide/1.0/i386/RedHat/RPMS

glib2-2.2.3-1.1.i386.rpm and glib2-devel-2.2.3-1.1.i386.rpm

From; http://gaim.sourceforge.net/downloads.php

 The current version is version 0.70.

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=235

gaim-0.70-1rh8.i386.rpm and gaim-devel-0.70-1rh8.i386.rpm

They should work just fine with RHL9
