laptop monitor

hi all
i managed to isntall rh9 in my presario 2100z laptop after the
installation aborted couple of times due ot its failure to detect the
monitor.
when i treid to start X after insallation it doesnt work it says the
device is not present. i tried tinkering th xfree86 config file. it
doesnt work. anyhelpis appreciated
