redhat 7.3 and adaptec scsi cards

Ok. I;m totally stuick and I throw myself prsotrate on the ground
before you all.

How the hell do I get an existing RH 7.3 system to
recognise/use/interface with a newly installed apatec scsi card (it
uses a aic7xxx driver I am possibly incorrectly assured by the adaptec
website).

Nothing I do works whatsoever - I cannot believe that I have to
rebuild the box from scratch for the installation process to "see" the
card and act appropriately?

HELP! PLEASE!!
