Hi,

I've recently installed RH9 on my inspirion and put my xp cd in the
toaster.
I'm having a major grief trying to get the sound working though.
When I went through the install the sound test worked fine, no
problems at all. However after the install finished I couldnt get
sound to work on reboot!

The fist thing I tried was upgrading my kernel (2.4.20-8) in the hope
a potentially improved sound driver would do the trick. No luck. When
I run dmesg, this is what I see

i810: Intel ICH3 found at IO 0xdc80 and 0xd800, MEM 0x0000 and 0x0000,
IRQ 11

Looking in /var/log/messages:
my kernel: i810_audio: CIV 5, LVI 4, hwptr 2db0, count -688
my kernel: i810_audio: drain_dac, dma timeout?

Some of the CIV and LVI numbers vary throughout the logs. I did try
upgrading my kernel again to a 2.6-pre, but no luck. What am I doing
wrong?
