Hi. I recently switched motherboards and had to reorganize my hard
disks on a win98/RH9.0 dual boot machine.
The mortifying part is that win98 seems more stable than it has ever
been, while RH9 crashes within an hour each time.
The old motherboard was an Abit BP6, meaning smp. I'm no longer using
an smp kernel, but I did make a number of system changes to get things
to work properly (like sensors), and I don't have much idea what those
were.
I also had to make a number of changes - fstab, mstab, devices.images
(?? I'm emailing from win 98 now) to be able to boot RH after moving
the disk to a new device.
So, I'm looking for advice on how to install/reinstall/uninstall
something to make sure that the system is properly configured for the
motherboard.
Any other suggestions to track down the cause of a crash would be
appreciated.
(The crashes give a screen lock, where the display remains frozen the
way it waas last, and the keyboard and mouse produce no effects.)
