I installed RH8.0 on my primary slave harddrive, with the first
partition assigned to /boot. Windows 95 has run for years on the
primary master, and should have no dealings with the second drive. My
bios allows me to pick D as the boot drive. I assumed the bios would
see the /boot partition as D:. Until I set up the dual boot, I was
intending to change the bios to boot linux from D.
I installed the GRUB bootloader on hdb1, forced primary. /boot shows up
as the first partition.
RH won't boot, either from the boot floppy, or from D. When I try to
boot from the floppy, it says it's a bad disk. When I try to boot from
D, "grub" shows up on the screen and everything hangs up.
Windows, of course, doesn't see D, so has assigned D to a windows
directory. But this shouldn't affect how the bios sees the drives, I
thought.
Am I missing something elementary here?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Ann
