I've tried to install Red Hat linux 6.2 seven times on a Dell machine with
30Gb hard drive and I just can't get it to install. I keep getting jammed at
the set-up of disc partitions bit. Midway through the text-based install I
come to something called Disk Druid. I've tried setting my partitions up so
they look like thus:
Partitions
Mount Point Device Requested Actual Type
/ hda1 23M 39M Linux Native
/home hda5 20000 20000 Linux Native
<swap> hda6 70M 94M Linux Swap
but when it comes to the formatting/file system bit I keep getting an error
message says:
'/ not enough drive space for packages....need extra 553M'
So I try to go back and delete and rebuild the partitions to look like this:
Partitions
Mount Point Device Requested Actual Type
/ hda1 700M 700M Linux Native
/home hda5 20000 20000 Linux Native
<swap> hda6 70M 94M Linux Swap
but I just get the same message.
'/ not enough drive space for packages....need extra 553M'
what am I doing wrong?
and are there any good beginner level tutorials on the web that show a
newbie how to setup the partitions? as in step by step easy....the only docs
I've found were very difficult to understand.
ps: b4 you tell me that 6.2 is old etc I know this, it's just that I have a
beginners book based on 6.2 and I want to have the right version to follow
it properly.
Thanks for any help.
