That Maxtor is your hard disk isn't it?
Anyway, if you had the cd working OK before the change, what errors or
config is shown in your burning program -- assuming you were using a
gui front end?
Is cdrecord installed? What do you get with "cdrecord --scanbus"?
/dev/cdrom is just a link to the "real" device file.
Suspect that what has happened is that your /dev/cdrom is still linked
to the _old_ /dev/scd0. This assumes that your cd was operating with
scsi emulation. In any case, examine the ls -l /dev/cdrom output to
see where it is linked to and adjust to new loacation (or re-establish
the correct link).
This is just a guess since we have little meaningful output and I
can't get a very clear picture of what/where you've made hand edits.
