First as root(to maybe fix your X11 configuration);
Press the three key combo of Ctrl+Alt+F1 (if you need to) and log on as
root, when done type; init 3 (if your running at runlevel 5, the GUI)
Next type; mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup
Also if you have any XF86Config files in /etc/X11 it's a good idea to move
them to another location (ls -l /etc/X11) or or at least rename them.
Now type; system-config-display
When done type(start runlevel 5, the GUI interface); init 5
Log on as you normally do. If everything looks OK then press the
Ctrl+Alt+F1 key combo again and log off as root, press the Ctrl+Alt+F7
three key combo to get back to the GUI session.
Then as each user you want to use KDE, end the Gnome session, press the
three key combo of Ctrl+Alt+F1, log on as the user and type the following
command; switchdesk KDE
Log off (exit or logout) and press the three key combo of Ctrl+Alt+F7 and
log on as you do normally.
