BTW Thanks for your replies to my RH9 queries (Compiling the kernel etc).

I decided to try FC2 because kernel 2.6 is sopposed to support ALSA
sound built in. It now autodetects my sound card but still fails to
make any sounds (even though the right sound card is configured).

I had too much trouble muching around trying to recompile the kernel.

FC2 Final has not got wine rpm available yet (as far as I know) so it
removes some of my functonality. However I wanted wine predominately to
use with ms-access which is currently not supported out of the box
anyway. I did get the rest of the Office suite to install in RH9.

On FC2 I also get a lot of errors during boot up.

eg.

Kernel startup logs show

There is already a security framework initialized, register_security failed.

XOrg Logs show

(WW) Open APM failed (/dev/apm_bios) (No such device)

But things kinda work anyway so its OK. It will be great when they get
sound hapenning for the HP Pavilion 8630

I may try to compile the kernel later to add the AX25 networking stuff
but I really don't want to muck about trying to find the default settings.
