Adapted 2906 not installing

I have a RedHat 9.0 computer (2.4Ghz) and I added an adapted 2906 Scsi
controller. Kudzu saw the device and added it as an AHA-7850. After
bringing up linux, I looked at the "fstab" and "mtab" and the scsi and
tape drive did not show up.
Can anyone tell me how to load the aha-7850 and the HP Dat tape
drive??
