Hello:

This is an old post, related to FC2.
-------
I reverted to the previous kernel (2.6.5-1.358) and the problem is
gone. Then I came back to the latest (2.6.7-1.494.2.2) and the problem is
back. So there is clearly a bug in the latest kernel... or in
"slocate/latest kernel" combination.

The symptom is now clear:
When the latest kernel is used, the temporary file growth to 76k, ans
then stop, instead to grow to a much larger size, the being renamed
"var/lib/slocate/slocate.db".
----------
The symptoms with FC3, are the same.
Furthermore I often get a "segmention error" when running "updatedb".
Some one suggested that this may be resolved by not indexing the VFAT
partitions. I tried and to me it did not do anything (same PB).
----------
I would be grateful if you could post a reply here stating what is the
situation (good or fail) on your FC3 system.
I have updated the kernel to 2.6.9-1.678_FC3, and do not see any
improvement with slocate.
If it works pls post also some technical data about your system config,
kernel version (uname -r), video driver, CPU, memory etc...
----------
Thanks you.
 A-FC3
