Hello, as a newbie to linux i decided to get right into it. I installed a
second hard disk to my dell 4300 and have installed practically every known
version of linux on it. Non of them was able to identify all my hardware,
especially my modem. Then someone let me install their redhat 9 and all of a
sudden i have modem AND sound, hooray!!
Hmmmm, not quite, inexplicably i can't seam to access my c: drive, HDA, or
indeed my USB Pen drive, SDA.
The hardware browser certainly recognises them as /dev/hda, /dev/hdb and
/dev/sda1. In the nautilus file manager the /dev directory doesn't recognise
them, and in the /mnt directory there is only floppy and CD.
Please help, if i could get these drives mounted i would at least have a
complete system that works for me. Please also bear in mind that i am a
cretinous newbie who needs to be treated gently! Would the latest fedora be
a worthwhile upgarde?
thanks....Simon
