    Hi,
I've installed linux fedora core 4 on my computer a few months ago
and it was working fine until today, when I tried to boot I got this
    message:
    GRUB loading stage2 ...
then everything hangs with no further errors. What could be the cause
of this problem, I saw a lot of messages on the news with this problem
but none that could explain my problem since my installation has been
    working fine for several months.

I have a dual boot installation with fedora and win2k on it. I use
win2k's boot loader instead of grub. I didn't make any modification to
my system (software or hardware) and it was working very fine until
now. By the way I have two other HDs mounted in RAID0 on a HPT370A
controller, but my linux installation is on the primary IDE channel
since I had problems with the HPT370A controller and fedora (I didn't
have this problem with redhat 9.0) win2k is on the RAID array and my
bootloader on the primary IDE channel.

One thing I'm thinking of right now which could I have caused the
problem is that I have installed the Ext2 IFS For Windows driver in
win2k in order to have acess to my linux partitions in windows. And
today I have scanned my computer for viruses with AVG antivirus and
noticed that it was scanning my EXT2 partitions (I didn't think about
it and didn't want it in case it could corrupt my linux partition) so I
stopped AVG and tried to boot in linux to see if everything was ok and
it was not able to boot. I don't know if it was working fine just
before it because I didn't tried to boot in linux for about a month.

What do you think? Could AVG and the Ext2 IFS driver have corrupted my
ext3 partitions? AVG didn't write on it, it just scanned the
    partitions.

I'm now trying to boot to my fedora installation using the fedora
installation cd and this command at the boot: prompt:
    linux root=/dev/hdb7
but I still enter into the installation/repair screen. The installation
program detects my installation on /dev/hdb7 and ask me if I want to
repair it or do another installation, so I have the correct device. (my
boot partition is on /dev/hdb6). Am I missing something or should I be
able to boot to my current installation using this command? (I forgot
to create a boot disk :-( or lost it)

What is my best option? I don't want to reinstall everything, should I
just try to reinstall GRUB using the installation cd's repair option?
Will everything remains the same if my root partition is not corrupted.
Or is there a way to try to fix grub from the configuration file, to be
sure I don't loose my kernels configurations (I have upgraded my
kernel). At least I would like to boot to my installation just to be
sure everything is ok and that the problem is only GRUB or my boot
    partition.

    here's my grub.conf file

Any suggestions or information will be greatly welcome

    Thanks in advance
