I just tried partimage using SystemRescueCD and I was able to make the
backups of both partitions (using the nodetect option when booting
SystemRescueCD because it was hanging at the hardware auto-detection).
But partimage gave me an error on both partitions:
e2fsck found error on the file system

I would not be suprise to see this error only on the boot partition
since ghost gives me an error, but It's strange I get this error on
both. Does partimage really support ext3?

Do you think my backup will work anyway? And does partimage backup the
boot sectors too?

Thanks (sorry for this new complication)
