learn to use the man program when doing things in the shell type: man commad for exmaple: man ls to learn more on who to list files.
a usefull command in fedora is service that can be used to start and stop services.
most termial based programs understand the paramter -h or --help
if you use a windowmanager, you can realease a window from termainl by adding an & after the program name.
example: emacs &
