I know all the rpms that come in. They are saved in a directory.
I need to know what commands are used run to remove/update/install the rpms...there were some removed and some updated when I ran it last.

I also have a machine connected to the Internet and registered with rhn running the exact same release (yes I also have licenses to use both at the same time).
Is there anyway to tell what exactly happens when up2date is run?
I can tell from the /var/up2date directory what gets downloaded, but I cannot seem to find out what steps are taken...
The last update appeared to need to remove some packages and then install or update current ones.
I would like to replicate the same-exact changes on my internal network.
thanks

I do not know what up2date does.
I could give you another idea:
1) Configure the squid software on the box with internet connection as a https proxy.
2) On the internal boxes let up2date point to the proxy.
This leads to the following behaviour: The first internal box will force a download from the internet of a rpm, the others will download the rpm's from the local proxy.
This is about the same way the RHN proxy server software of Red Hat works.
