Install problem on HP Pavilion Notebook

I am trying to install FC4 on an HP ZE1250 notebook using graphic mode. The
display is garbled and looks like either the video driver or the monitor
driver is wrong. HP says this unit is not compatible with Linux. If anyone
has had success with this machine I would really appreciate some help.
