Hi,
I have a RH 7.2 dual P-III machine with a SCSI disk. The SCSI controller
(Adaptec) is integrated in the MoBo. Now the motherboard failed, I have
to put a new one, which will have no SCSI integrated. I have a SCSI
controller card but it is a Tekram card, so it needs different driver.
Is there a way to make this change without having to reinstall the
system? I guess the Adaptec driver is configured into the "initrd" ram
disk used at boot time, so it will probably fail to work with another
controller.
I was thinking about using "linux rescue" option of the installation
CDROM, but I am not sure how to recreate the "initrd" with the new
driver configured, for the system installed on the disk. Would
"chroot /mnt/sysimage", editing /etc/modules.conf and "mkinitrd"
work in such a environment?
any help would be appreciated, regards, Michal.
