I have been trying to get Redhat Linux 7.2 to print to 11x17 paper on an
HP 8000 LaserJet printer. Using printtool, I set up a new printer
(lp811x17) and on the Driver Options tab, selected 11x17 paper. This
pulls the 11x17 paper and prints on it, but it starts the text in the
middle of the page. I also have no control over font selection or
orientation, etc. because none of the known options work for e on the
command line. Plus, being set up this way makes the 11x17 paper
selection global. Users want to be able to print to letter sized paper
normally and then specify the larger paper when needed. Under HP-UX it
is simple:
lp -o landscape -o 11x17 <filename>
prints a file in landscape on 11x17 paper. I don't know why Linux
(maybe it's just this version) can't be that simple. Does anyone know
if this is still a problem in later versions of Redhat?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Randy
