Red Hat 9 without x?

I installed Red Hat 9 on a ibm 450 mhz 192 ram, this is quite slow. Some
years ago I tryed Linux, what version I dont remember. Then it was possible
to run Linux without x, is this possible to do whith Red Hat 9 and
bootloader Grub?
