I purchased RH 9 mainly because it made setting up a RAID based system
simple. I did have some troubles with installation until I changed CDROM
drives. (Testing the CD on either drive gave no indication that it was the
problem though.)
The installation went very nicely after that.
Now, I have noticed that the Search capability is limited to only the
directory chosen. RH8 had full functionality.
In the Terminal, 'find' hangs up on directories and files with a space
character in their name. And when I use 'cmp' it says '--ignore...' is
invalid when I use any wild card characters.
When I installed it, I had it install everything. I'm not so sure which
GUI I'm in. I suspect X. And I was unable to find a way to chose a
different one.
I also could not find a way to power manage the hard drives. I can't
say I ever saw a way in Linux to do so.
Pretty new at LINUX. Without Linux in the Nutshell I'd be
real weak.
Sincerely,

PS. Is there anyway to get Linux to check specific drives once at startup
or shutdown, when they are not being used.
