fedora and webcams?

I'm considering changing from Slackware to Fedora. The main advantage
to me would be if Fedora provides plug-and-play type recognition and
use of webcams, particularly my Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 (usb).
That is, with no fiddling with the OS on my part (I don't want to have
to recompile the kernal, or anything similar) I want the OS to
recognize the webcam on bootup, and then have the desktop (probably
gnome) provide me with a utility that lets me use the webcam
immediately.

Does Fedora provide anything near this level of capability for usb
webcams? How close does it come? If not, is there any version of
linux that does?
