viewing .mpg files...

    hi...
    i 've 2 queries:
    1. i'd mounted Windows partition & from there i get some .mpg file to
    my linux system but whenever i try to run those .mpg files it says
    that 'there is no action associated with .mpg.
    How can i make it recognize to my syatem for such types of errors?
    2.i want to import a folder from the windows which contains some
    .jpg,.mpg & .txt files to my linux partition & want it to b hidden &
    only open, write & execute by me .. how to do it?
