    i would have thought u can just do a custom install making sure that
    nothing to do with KDE is installed. Then install KDE 2.1 seperate. Why
    don't you want kde 3.x? It should run almost all KDE 2 apps.

    As far as I am aware you cannot have 2 versions of KDE on the same system
