We just recently installed Linux Redhat version 8, on two PC because we got
fedup with windows so we are really, really new to this and just don't know
what else to look for. We are still running WinXP on the two laptops and
Win2000 on a desktop.
The problem we are having is that the printer is connected to one of the
WinXP machines. All of the windows machines can print, but the Linux boxes
can not.
When we setup the printer in CUPS it says
'unable to connect to Samba host will retry in 60 seconds...:Success'.
Device URI: sbm:/Mufasa/hppsc2200
Does this mean that it actually connected or that it is just going to keep
retrying until it does??
When we do a test page it just sits there processing and never prints. We
are using Samba version 2.2.5 and CUPS version CUPS-Sam-1.1.15. The windows
printer is a HP PSC 2200, we are using the driver for the Hp officejet R65,
Foomatic + cdj1600, because we could not find a driver for this printer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, we have just run out of ideas. Thanks
for any help you can provide.
Kani
