How did you configure cups? If you use the printer icon to setup cups,
this doesn't work. The setup via the web interface for CUPS. I have an
USB OfficeJet G85 that I've been able to setup flawlessly.

I used ptal-init to setup detect my printer,

Download the driver and follow the instructions below at this link,
Perform all the ptal-init tests, this makes sure that you can
communicate with the printer before configuring cups.
