By "latest" kernel do you mean the latest RedHat RPM or the latest kernel
installed from source? ;->
I'm running the 2.6 test kernel and it's nice.
I have Gnome 2.4 running on a machine at work.
RedHat 9 was a huge improvement over 8 because it added XFree86 4.3 which
fixed a lot of things for dual head Matrox cards and vastly improved
fonts.
I don't know what they can improve on from the desktop perspective. Unless
they include a 2.6 kernel or at least Gnome 2.4 I don;t know why I would
upgrade. I'll wait and see if I can try it on a test machine first.
The whole move to drop RedHat from retail packaging, and no longer support
anything other than enterprise and advanced server versions is really
troubling to me.
The next release probably won;t be RedHat, from reading their web site.
Since the merger with Fedora, all bets seem to be off. Guess I'll wait and
see.
