Update to xfree86 4.3.0 brakes apps!

After updating my Redhat 8 system from xfree86 ver. 4.2.1 to 4.3.0 I noticed
some apps didn't work anymore.
For example, when I choose Services under Server Settings (in KDE 3.0.5a-5)
nothing happens. When i do that in a console (redhat-config-services) I
get:

import gnome.ui
ImportError: /usr/lib/libpangoft2-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol:
FT_Set_Hint_Flags
How do I resolve that?
