Install goes fine: setup routine sees both my UATA 20G hard drive
(primary master) and my SATA 80G hard drive (onboard SATA, 3rd IDE
controller), and allows me to repartition the install drive (the SATA
drive) or the UATA drive if I want. Install runs great, installs onto
SATA drive no errors, no burps at all during installation, except the
inability to make a boot disk (too many modules would be needed, boot
disk image too large). Install completes, machine reboots, then instead
of boot I get error message "Error loading operating system."
Hardware:
P4 3.0 800MHz FSB w/hyperthreading enabled
Asus P4C800E-Deluxe mbd
2G DDR400 ram
eVGA GeForce FX 5900
Seagate 80G SATA hdd
Seagate 20G UATA hdd
Toshiba 16x DVD
Lite-On 52x CDRW
Sblaster Audigy
In BIOS, the SATA drive is selected as the primary (boot) drive.
Windows XP runs fine on the machine. The MBR is not write-protected.
Mandrake 9.2 also fails to load at boot time; earlier versions of do not
see the SATA drive.
Any ideas?
